They say that every journey begins with a single step. In 1987, Jim Riggins took the first step to create a different kind of business. Plenty of companies were selling copiers. But Riggins aimed higher. With a clear plan for offering unparalleled service and a check for $25,000, technocom began.
The check came from Toshiba chairman Marc Parsons, who believed in Riggins' vision so much that he also sent $60,000 in copier equipment. No contract was ever requested by Parsons for the money or the equipment. (Riggins paid it back, with interest.) While there was no commitment for the money or the equipment, a different kind of commitment did exist. It was Jim Riggins' commitment to the new company's success, and Marc Parsons' commitment to helping the industry realize the benefits of a brand new business philosophy.
Now, over 16 years later, technocom still sells Toshiba products, along with a host of other products by various suppliers. But that is just the beginning of technocom's journey — a journey that has only just begun to reach the heights of service Riggins envisions.
The company continues to grow with the ever-changing technology and increasing demands of today's business world.
Today, the journey continues. Destinations change as the world changes, but one thing remains the same: technocom's commitment to non-stop service.
